NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler will be in Richmond for the April 20 ToyotaCare 250 race at Richmond Raceway, and he will also be in town on April 19 to throw the first pitch at the Richmond Squirrels baseball game, which will be one of many peanut-free games this season.
Sadler’s son, Wyatt, tasted a peanut before his second birthday, which triggered a life-threatening allergic reaction. He was immediately rushed to the emergency room and was diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy.
Sadler is taking on a new initiative, which is about highlighting the importance of being prepared when you are in a race for your life, in the event of a life-threatening allergic reaction. He has collaborated with kaléo and help raise awareness of life-threatening allergies.
The Flying Squirrels game will be held at 10:35 a.m., and the team will battle it out against the Bowie Baysox.
