Faith on Fridays with Sheilah Belle | April 13 – 15

Sheliah Belle lets us know whats going on this weekend in the faith community

For the first time in history the Black Awakening Choir at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Virginia State University Gospel Choral also known as VSUGC recently came together for a joint concert.

The Black Awakening Choir performed first with a more traditional church flow sound with tight harmonies and well-choreographed moves that kept the nearly packed congregation at St. Paul’s Baptist Church on Creighton Road on their feet.

VSUGC made their way to center stage next. They came ready wearing their traditional orange and blue choir robes. Their sound was strong and structured as they showcased their five-part harmony’s and infamous signature hand clapping moves.

While this was a great night, it was also a little bitter sweet as VCU’s Black Awakening Choir Director, Joseph “JoJo” Clark announced this would be his last year as their director. Taking over the reins, Frankie James, a VCU grad.

Get ready for the new original docu-series, “We’re the Campbells.” The docu-series follows Gospel music power couple, Grammy Award Winners, Warren Campbell and his wife, Erica Campbell as they balance raising their family, building their own individual empires, growing their flourishing church ministry and maintaining their strong faith.

“We’re The Campbells” will allow viewers to follow Warren and Erica, as they manage their hectic daily work schedules, while fostering a healthy marriage and raising three children with the help of their core group of family and friends.
