RVA Fall Events Guide

Fall is one of our favorite times of year in the Richmond area because there are so many fun events happening! These are some of our favorites!

Richmond Oktoberfest - October 20 & 21

Richmond Oktoberfest is a celebration of traditional and modern German culture. There will be a large selection of German foods including Bratwurst, Knackwurst, Sauerkraut and more. There will also be a literal truckload of authentic German pastries and breads. There will also be beer imported straight from two family-owned breweries in Germany. They will be serving Pilsner, Oktoberfest, and Dunkel beers plus German wines! Enjoy dancing to live music including polkas and waltzes.

Scott's Addition Pumpkin Festival - October 21

Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival is a great event for the entire family. They have an entire area for kids, beverages for mom and dad, and pets are allowed too! The Pumpkin Festival takes place on The Boulevard near Movieland Theater from 12 to 6 PM on Oct 21. There will be lots of food available from different vendors and a costume contest!

RVA Rocks! Fall Festival - October 21

Join RVA Rocks! for a Fall Festival with free admission, games, activities, and Trunk or Treat! There will be a rock painting contest so make sure to bring your masterpieces so you can enter. There will be fun prizes for each age group! Food will be available for purchase and there will be a Flashlight Rock Hunt so make sure to bring your flashlights!

Goblins and Gourds - October 22

This annual harvest celebration at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is a perfect event for the entire family. They’ll have live music, pumpkin painting, and other fun activities in the Children’s Garden.

Family Camp-Out: Spooky Spectacular - October 27

Happy “Owl”-oween! The whole family will love getting to visit Maymont after dark! Explore the grounds and meet some of Maymont’s spookiest creatures on a lantern-lit hike and then make s’mores and listen to stories around the campfire. Then enjoy camping out on Maymont’s grounds. The next morning there will be a continental breakfast and a morning hike.

OktoberFest - October 28

OktoberFest at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is a family-friendly festivity celebrating the beauty of nature in the Fall. There will be lawn games such as cornhole, ladder golf, and life-size Jenga. There will also be live music and fun prizes. There will be food available for purchase as well as beer from Center of the Universe Brewing.

Richmond Zombie Walk - October 28

The Richmond Zombie Walk is an annual event where a large number of people dress up as zombies, meet up at Byrd Park and walk through Carytown as a massive zombie horde. The event benefits the American Cancer Society and is definitely a lot of fun. The event is family friendly. What could be more fun for kiddos than putting on zombie costume and makeup and hobbling through the streets in search of brains?

Scott's Addition Booz Crawl - October 28

Just think of this event as Trick-or-Treating for adults. Head over to Scott’s Addition from 6PM to 9PM on October 18th to taste everything RVA’s booziest neighborhood has to offer. 9 different alcohol producers are participating including Ardent Craft Ales, Black Heath Meadery, Blue Bee Cider, Buskey Cider, Isley Brewing Company, Reservoir Distillery, Three Notch’d RVA Collab House, Vasen Brewing Company, and The Veil Brewing Co.

Growl-O-Ween - October 28

Halloween has gone to the dogs…in the best possible way! Bring your pup and your costume and head out to have fun to raise money for The Friends of Hanover Dog Parks and the Hanover Humane Society. There will be carnival games for you AND your pooch set up around the beer garden including bobbing for tennis balls, musical chairs, toss and catch, and a photo booth. There will also be a mini dog park for the pups and live music. Carytown Burgers & Fries will be there selling food and since the event takes place at Center of the Universe, you know there will be an awesome beer selection.

Goochland County Fall Festival - October 28

Goochland County Parks and Recreation hosts this annual Fall Festival. It will feature inflatables, live music, carnival games, petting zoo, arts and crafts, vendors, a Halloween Costume Contest, and more! It’s fee to get in and is the perfect family-friendly event!
