Thousands of watermelons will be part of the 36th annual Carytown Watermelon Festival on Aug. 11.
Live music and six stations selling cut watermelon for $1 will be part of the event, which benefits Carytown Merchants Association.
Five stages will be set up for music and other entertainment, and the watermelons will be provided by Publix.
Proceeds from the watermelon sales will go to the Shriners’ Hospital for Children.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. West Cary Street will be closed from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m.
