RVA fireworks guide for the 4th of July | 2019 edition

Happy 4th of July!

Independence Day, other wise known as the 4th of July falls on a Thursday this year.

The Fourth of July is more than just fireworks and barbecues. It’s a day celebrating the anniversary of our national independence. Patriotic displays and family events are organized throughout the United States.

Right here in Richmond there are plenty of options to see fireworks and celebrate!

Free Kings Dominion tickets

Kings Dominion | July 1 - 7

Kings Dominion is celebrating the final week of Grand Carnivale and Independence Day with free military admission and fireworks each night July 1 – July 7. In honor of Independence day Kings Dominion is offering an additional extended fireworks display at 10 p.m. on July 4. All active and retired military personnel as well as veterans with honorable or medical discharge can receive two free park admission tickets July 1 – July 7.

Rocketts Red Glare | July 3 - 4 | 9 p.m.

Free two day festival with activities, vendors, music, food trucks, craft beer offerings and a pro beach volleyball tournament hosted by EVP Tour. Festivities end with riverfront fireworks on July 4th at 9 p.m.!

Dogwood Dell | July 4 | 6:30 p.m.

Free, family friendly day filled with music and fireworks! Pack a picnic and get there early for prime seating.

The Diamond | July 4 | 6:35 p.m.

Enjoy the Flying Squirrels and Funnville as they celebrate Independence day with a night of baseball and fireworks. This is one of the region’s largest fireworks show after the game. Gates open at 5 PM.

Dorey Park | July 4 | 4 p.m.

Enjoy live entertainment, food trucks, a Family Fun Zone full of games & activities, and at 8pm, a concert by the Richmond Symphony with a fireworks finale!

Chesterfield County Fair Grounds | July 4 | 5 p.m.

Activity area for children, food vendors and special entertainment. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the fireworks begin at dark. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a night that’s fun for everyone!

Hopewell | June 29 | 9:30 p.m.

The Hopewell Recreation and Parks Department will host fireworks on the Appomattox River.  Display can be viewed from the Hopewell City Marina, the John Randolph Medical Center rear parking lot, and City Park.

Fourth at the Fort Lee | July 4 | 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Celebrate your independence at Fort Lee’s annual Fourth at the Fort celebration!
The event begins at 5 p.m. at Williams Stadium on Fort Lee, with music, food, and the KidZone!
This event is FREE and open to the public!

Libbie Mill Midtown

Join in for a spectacular fireworks display over the lake! The family-friendly fun gets underway at 6pm at 2100 Libbie Lake East Street, adjacent to the Libbie Mill Library, with live music from “The Mashup”, a variety of food trucks, kids activities including stilt-walkers, inflatables, face-painting and more.
