Huge taco, avocado and other Tex-Mex pinatas have been popping up all around Richmond …
It turns out they’re from Tijuana Flats, a “fast-casual Tex-Mex” restaurant at 4925 W. Broad St. in the Shops of Willow Lawn.
They’ve placed the pinatas in locations ranging from VCU and the University of Richmond, to the Children’s Museum and Lombardy Park.
“Excited residents followed clues from select radio station and social media to locate and bust open one of a dozen pinatas stuffed with sunglasses, beer koozies, coupons and other treats from the new restaurant,” the restaurant said.
In addition to all these goodies, Tijuana Flats is helping raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU as it prepares for the opening.

The restaurant has already raised $1,000 for the hospital and will be holding a fundraiser on Saturday, April 21 to donate even more. 20 percent of the sales generated that day will go to the Children’s Hospital.
